Assessment Security Research Group
About ASRG
The Assessment Security Research Group is a global community dedicated to advancing understanding and practice in assessment security. We provide a trusted environment for research, discussion and collaboration on the challenges affecting examinations and assessments today.
From emerging technologies and sophisticated cheating methods to fraud, impersonation and organised criminal activity, we help the assessment community understand changing threats and develop informed, practical responses.
Advancing Assessment Security Through Research and Collaboration
Bringing together assessment professionals, researchers and organisations to understand emerging threats, share knowledge and strengthen the integrity of assessment worldwide.
Protecting the Integrity of Assessment Worldwide
Our Purpose
Our purpose is to improve the security, integrity, validity and fairness of assessment worldwide.
We have created a trusted forum in which assessment professionals can examine emerging threats, share experiences, and contribute to research that benefits the wider assessment community.
By bringing together diverse expertise from different organisations, markets and disciplines, we aim to move the conversation beyond individual scandals and incidents and towards a deeper awareness of how assessment security is changing and how best to respond.
Effective assessment provides access to education, professional recognition, employment and opportunity. Its value depends upon trust. As assessment becomes increasingly international and technology-enabled, the threats to its integrity continue to evolve.
New technologies create opportunities to improve assessment, but they can also introduce new vulnerabilities. At the same time, established threats including impersonation, organised cheating, bribery, content theft and fraud, continue to develop in sophistication. No organisation can understand or address these challenges in isolation.
The Assessment Security Research Group exists to bring together people and organisations from across the assessment community to investigate these risks, share knowledge, and strengthen our collective response.
What We Do
Research
We conduct and support research into current and emerging assessment security challenges.
Our work examines subjects including assessment malpractice, impersonation, organised cheating, emerging technologies, secure assessment environments, remote invigilation, digital assessment, data security, fraud and other evolving methods used to compromise assessment integrity.
Publications and Insight
We translate research and intelligence into practical insight for assessment professionals. Through whitepapers, articles, briefings and other publications, we examine important developments in assessment security and help organisations understand their potential implications.
Intelligence and Knowledge Sharing
Some of the most important information about assessment security never reaches the wider industry. We provide a trusted environment in which members can discuss emerging threats, experiences and concerns, helping the community to build a more complete picture of the risks affecting assessment organisations around the world.
Events and Collaboration
Assessment security is a shared challenge. We bring together professionals, researchers, policymakers and industry specialists through events, discussions, working groups and collaborative research initiatives. We also provide opportunities to exchange knowledge, explore difficult questions and develop stronger approaches to protecting assessment integrity.
A Trusted Community
Effective assessment security depends upon information. However, organisations can understandably be reluctant to discuss security incidents, vulnerabilities or emerging threats publicly. This can leave valuable intelligence isolated within individual organisations and prevent the wider industry from learning from shared experience.
The Assessment Security Research Group provides a trusted environment for these conversations. Members can contribute their knowledge and experience, participate in research and engage with peers facing similar challenges while supporting a wider effort to improve assessment security.
Our aim is to build a community where difficult issues can be examined constructively and where shared knowledge contributes to improved best practice and stronger assessment systems for everyone.
